2007-Swarnandhra’s ‘Feed the hungry’ Programme
When our tender-hearted founder-chief functionary saw some cadaverous geriatrics performing arduous tasks at the quarry , thwacking the stones , he was aghasted to witness the indifference in the society towards the elderly. He resolved to come up with an idea which can help him have a hand in promoting their welfare.He thought that no other elders should toil for a day’s meals and started the ‘Feed the hungry ‘ Programme on 3rd February, 2007 which presently feeds about 300 people per day.
2010-Swarnandhra Old age home
Many indigent people who are unable to make two ends meet consider their parents as a liability, in other words,a burden. When we came across incidents of parents committing suicides out of desolation,our honourable founder made up his mind to accommodate them under a safe roof and started old age (day care)home in 2007 which is providing shelter (shelter for homeless and empowering lives of town and entire rural) for about 30 old people and many more.
2010-Empowerment of women-Enabling their employment
To help women successfully tackle the problem of dearth of financial resources, Swarnandhra initiated free tailoring classes for women to enable them to be independent in economic terms. Till now,7000 women have received training and nearly 1000 members were given sewing machines.
Volunteer Internship Programme
As Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya rightly said,the way to build a nation is to build a good citizen. The majority of the citizens should be efficient, of good character and possess a reasonable high sense of duty.To inculcate the spirit of helping the needy , we instituted the SVIEP program.About 600 students were imparted with the training.
Voluntary Blood Donors Mobilisation Centre
We have organised about 120 Blood donation camps and dispensed the blood to
thousands of people who were in immediate need of blood.Apart from the camps, we also
have been conducting awareness campaigns and distributing pamphlets to encourage
blood donations in order to stand by the victims of accidents and disasters.
Free Medical Camps
To increase awareness among poverty- stricken people about health and medication, to help them with diagnosis and treatment , and to dispense free medicines, we made a start on organising medical camps. In addition , we helped some people undergo cataract operation for free and gave away spectacles free of cost.In association with Tummidi Charitable Trust, Bhavani charitable Trust, C P Reddy Trust,we conducted more than 1000 medical camps.
SHE-DRIVE
Many middle class women and lower middle class women hanker to learn to ride a two -wheeler but their longing is constrained by their economic conditions since they are bereft of affording them.To ensure that their dream doesn’t remain a chimera,with the kind cooperation of C P Reddy Automobiles, we have been training many candidates in driving two wheeler ensuring that they abide by the traffic rules.
Night Shelter
In a far-out venture, the Rajamahendravaram Municipal corporation established a night shelter for homeless people.When we were asked to take charge of the maintenance by the respective bureaucrats, we were highly delighted to play our part in helping the night shelter that provides a roof over the heads of beggars and orphans.Besides providing them with food, we also furnish the necessaries. About 60 people are being benefited from the project and this undertaking bears witness to the fact that Swarnandhra is expanding its ambit.
